RRC Chennai Recruitment Notification 2012 for 2461 Group D Vacancies

Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC) ,Chennai has issued a notification for recruitment of 2461 posts in specified categories of Southern Railway. Age Limit: Candidates’ age must not be less than 18 years and must not be more than 33 years. Cutoff date for determining age limit would be 01-01-2013 and age relaxations will be extended as per Govt. rules.

Educational Qualification: Candidates must be pass outs in 10th standard or must possess ITI or equivalent examination.

Application Fees: Unreserved and OBC applicants need to pay application fee of Rs. 40/-. SC/ST/EXSM/PWD/Women/Minority candidates/Economically Backward Classes are exempted from payment of fee. Fee must be in form of Demand Draft / Pay Order from any Nationalized Bank, or crossed Indian Postal Order from any Post Office drawn in favor of “Assistant Personnel Officer(Recruitment), Railway Recruitment Cell, Southern Railway” payable at Chennai.

Selection Process: Eligible candidates will be selected on the basis of performance in Written Test and Physical Efficiency Test (PET) followed by Medical Examination.

How to Apply: Candidates need to download application format available in the notification or website of this office, fill it with all mandatory details, attach photograph, attest signature, affix left thumb impression, super scribe ‘Application for recruitment to posts in pay band – 1 with grade pay of Rs. 1,800/- in southern railway & ICF’ on the envelope and send it along with payment receipt and Copies of all relevant certificates.

Qualifications: Candidates should possess the qualification of 10th Pass or ITI or equivalent. Candidates appearing at and/or awaiting results of the final examinations of 10th/ITI or equivalent on the date of application are not eligible to apply
Application Fee: Rs. 40/- (Rupees forty only) are, in a form of crossed Demand Draft from State Bank of India or from any other Nationalized Bank or crossed Indian Postal Order drawn in favour of Assistant Personnel Officer (Recruitment), Railway Recruitment Cell, Secunderabad – 500 071 payable at Hyderabad or Secunderabad.
Mode of selection: Written Examination:

Written Examination consists of objective type multiple choice question paper based on 10th class standard to assess the general knowledge/ awareness/ mathematics/reasoning etc

The question paper will be printed in Hindi and English and also in any one or more of the following regional languages – Telugu, Urdu, Marathi, Kannada
Negative Marking: There will be negative marking for marking wrong answers. 1/3 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer. The qualifying marks for UR will be 40% and for SC/ST/OB it will be 30%.

Candidates who qualify in the written examination at 1:3 ratio will be called for Physical Efficiency Test (PET). A separate call letter indicating date, time and venue will be sent to all the eligible candidates
Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Passing the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) is mandatory and the same will be qualifying in nature. The criterion for the PET is as under:
For male candidates: Should be able to run for a distance of 1500 meters in six minutes in one chance
For female candidates: Should be able to run for a distance of 400 meters in three minutes in one chance
